Meet the Team

Waylan Johnson

Co-Founder & Principal

Waylan Johnson is a multi-venture entrepreneur and energy executive with 36 years of experience spanning petroleum exploration, commercial saltwater disposal (SWD) operations, and — over the past decade — large-scale power infrastructure and retail energy markets. As co-founder of Texas Energy Group, headquartered in Spicewood, TX, and its portfolio of affiliated companies, he uniquely bridges the traditional oil and gas world with the rapidly evolving power sector, delivering integrated solutions to commercial, industrial, and energy clients across Texas and beyond.

Waylan currently serves as co-founder and principal across four closely aligned companies operating under the Texas Energy Group platform, each targeting a distinct segment of the energy value chain. Prior to this platform, he co-founded Pumpjack Power (PJP), the only Option II Retail Electric Provider in the Texas ERCOT market designed exclusively for the oil and gas industry — pioneering a model of fully customized power options tailored to the unique demands of E&P and midstream operators, a segment long underserved by conventional providers.

In 2000, Waylan co-founded Border to Border Exploration (BBX), positioning the company among the first three operators to secure leases in what would become the Bakken Shale — now recognized as one of the three largest oil field discoveries in U.S. history.

Today, Waylan remains actively engaged across both the oil and gas and power sectors, managing a robust network of relationships with public and private energy companies. His rare combination of upstream petroleum expertise, SWD operations experience, and fluency in retail and infrastructure power markets makes him a uniquely valuable partner for companies seeking strategic capital deployment, energy procurement solutions, or infrastructure development expertise.

Outside of work, Waylan and his wife reside in Horseshoe Bay, TX, where they are founding members of Cornerstone Church. Many weekends are spent with grandchildren and the couple's two doodles, Hank and Harper.

Jennifer Dostal

Executive Assistant & Office Manager

I'm proud to be part of Texas Energy Group, A Family of Companies — an organization that embraces the power of energy as a strategy. Through their Permit to Power™ capabilities and over a century of combined experience, TEG delivers customized energy and infrastructure solutions that drive growth, efficiency, and lasting value. As Executive Assistant and Office Manager, I support the team with care, operational precision, and structure.

My approach to service and connection took root early as a flight attendant for Continental Airlines and deepened during my time in federal operations at FEMA, where I learned firsthand the value of staying grounded under pressure and leading with integrity. That experience built a strong foundation in research, process development, and team leadership. I thrive on digging into the details, creating SOPs and systems that bring clarity to complex workflows, and stepping into whatever role is needed to keep things moving.

Beyond the office, I'm a proud mom to my 23-year-old daughter and dog mom to Athena and Apollo. I hold an Associate of Applied Science in Paralegal Studies. My faith, grounded in my community at Gateway Church in North Austin.

When I'm not working, you'll find me on Lake Travis jet skiing and wakeboarding, or spending time with family, fur babies and friends. Life is about energy in every form and I bring that same passion to everything I do.

Patricia Goodwin

Sales Support Coordinator

With a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Texas Tech University, I have had the pleasure of working for several outstanding companies throughout my career, gaining valuable experience along the way. What makes me a strong professional, both in the workplace and in my personal life, is my ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Although I am fortunate to be surrounded by many caring people and beloved animals, my husband, Trent Goodwin, has always been—and always will be—one of my greatest supporters.

As a family, we enjoy relaxing evenings at home watching movies and playing board games, but we also love exploring new places and traveling together.
TEG has been, by far, the best company I've had the opportunity to work for. I appreciate being able to participate in team meetings, collaborating with some of the most intelligent and thoughtful people I've met, and be part of a safe, supportive, and structured workplace.

With my background in business administration, I strive to be an asset to every member of our team while helping us continue to grow stronger together.
